2SLGBTQIA+ Students

WEMADEIT is committed to creating safe communities for underrepresentation populations in the world of engineering! There should be no barriers in pursuing your passions, so we’re highlighting some important people, events, and resources!


Highlights

Western University

HIGHLIGHT: Queering Engineering Conference saw high school and university students come together for a day of education, fun, and allyship!


University of Waterloo

HIGHLIGHT:Waterloo Engineering Outreach staff and EngiQueers students hosted a workshop with OK2BME, a local community partner, at their annual GSA Conference in February 2025. The activity was designed to showcase personal anecdotes, challenges conquered, triumphs celebrated and a brief introduction to hands-on skills, providing an enlightening experience for 22 high school students from across the Region of Waterloo.


Ontario Tech University

HIGHLIGHT:At the 2024 Youth Pride Festival in Durham Region, Ontario Tech Engineering Outreach hosted an interactive booth featuring hands-on STEM activities, including Morse code bracelet making, crafting paper helicopters, and a “grow your own rainbow” experiment.  Attendees of all ages engaged in these exciting activities alongside a Pride Scavenger hunt, learning more about the history of Pride and significance of diversity in STEM!
